Agree about most but disagree on your no-radar detector recommendation.
A good detector, such as ValentineOne in particular, is an excellent early warning tool. Have had many a save using it. The optional remote info panel, which extinguishes detector indicator lights, is a must, IMHO. Very useful feature at night, especially.
Also agree with, removing any detector from the windshield if there is a danger of being stopped. It’s just a good idea, period.

I think a really big one is not modifying your car. I’ve been driving 300ZXs since I was 19, never been pulled over for a random stop. And I don’t drive like a saint either.
Everyone on the 300ZX forum is whinging about constant police attention, it’s the gaudy rims, loud exhausts and shabby bodykits that do it. Many of them complain that they get ticketted for deliberately driving with thei r car lower than legal - literally asking for trouble.
The worst I got was at a routine licence check, they asked what sort of engine I had and if it was turbocharged (young drivers aren’t allowed turbos where I live). I told them no - they didn’t even check, just let me on my way.
Some people like to modify, some people like to do it ostentatiously. Go ahead, but you will attract attention.

I know it’s a controversial view, but that’s what I find works (or doesn’t work) for me. One commenter pointed out that maybe I just live in an area with way too much radar for it to be useful, while others live in quieter areas where a good V1 can be a useful tool.

There are reasons why Alex Roy chose an E39 M5 for his cross country record. It’s a very fast car that looks like an ordinary 528i to the untrained eye, once the Team Polizei stickers come off.
I haven’t modified my BRZ much, but it is World Rally Blue with gold wheels, and though the exhaust isn’t loud it does make a nice non-stock sound. So I am a bit careful because I’m conspicuous. But hop in my other half’s silver 2002 Focus, and I can pretty much get away with anything, it seems!

Yeah that’s not too bad. No one’s going to look twice at gold rims on a blue Subey. If you keep it something that looks genuinely factory you’re usually pretty okay.
You’re pretty much invisible in a silver Focus :D

And know which states prosecute speeding as a felony, that will curb your enthusiasm pretty fast.

Easy. Have a goatee beard, drive a newer F150, Silverado, or RAM, speed, be polite when they pull you over... You will never get a ticket!
Also, be over 30 years old!
They like established people who don’t put stupid stickers on their stupid low cars, with stupid wheels :) ;)

I hope this post is meant tongue-in-cheek. Anytime you’re informing people how to break the law and avoid getting in trouble for it you will attract the wrong intention. And the last thing this community needs is the wrong attention. We have enough bonehead street racers, open exhaust Harley riders and bro trucks idiots doing that for us.
Yes, most of us are enthusiasts at some level, and yes we like to have fun with our rides. But we are also grown ups here, for the most part I think. We know that the track is were enthusiastic driving is done. We know that we share the road with soccer moms, inexperienced teenagers, emergency vehicles, drivers under the influence, people in a hurry. Accidents happen between residential areas and off ramps for the same reasons you’re promoting in this article.
Maybe you’re young, or maybe you don’t have a mentor to teach you any better, I don’t know. But I hope you read your own article and reflect on the irresponsible suggestions you’ve made here.

My other half’s older Ford Focus works well too.

Don’t enter blind turns more than 15 mph over the limit.
I regularly pass patrol cars checking with radar at 7-8 over without a second look.
I have also ripped my detector off my dash and kissed it.
